Short Film Research: ( SUBURBIA / Drama )

So the plot of the film is pretty clear and concise. The film makes it easy to identify what the plot of the story is without having to dig through our brains trying to figure out what to point of the film was.It contains the majority of the typical features of the drama genre. The short film begins with a joyful and gracious tone. Then, a few minutes into the movie, the climax occurs, which involves chases. The climax is crucial in a dramatic picture, and this one was straightforward. A shooting was the unfortunate occurrence. The film does not spare any time in stating the plot. This plot continues for the next several minutes of the movie.

The gunshot noises are loud and clear, but you can't see them. This denotes the use of non-diegetic sound in the picture. There are also a lot of high voices and screaming going on. In dramas, this is a crucial component. One of the dramatic components in our short film will be this. These are also elements that we enjoy seeing in drama films. Throughout the film, the lighting is high key, which effectively portrays the plot and its impact. Then you hear the ambulance sirens and the guy suffers a nervous breakdown since they can't save the woman who was shot. We still don't know where the shots came from or what triggered them, so it's all quite dramatic.

However, as the film approaches its 13-minute conclusion, the visuals come to a halt. The next scene is muted, with only hazy sounds and a blur image. The guy's girlfriend is speaking to him, but we can't hear her. This creates a halt in the action of the short film. It's a dramatic effect that implies something horrible has happened or is happening. Overall, this short film contains elements that we want to include in our short film, making it an ideal film for us to explore.

Planning: Storyboard "Dear Mother"

A dysfunctional mother-daughter relationship is the subject of our short film. The first shot of the first scene is of the outside of a house, which sets the tone for Roxy and Ms. Jackie's home. The shot then moves on to the interior of the house. Roxy is shouted at by her mother about housework in the next scene, which is more focused on the performers' relationships. There is a close-up of food on the floor, which Roxy must clean up as part of her tasks. This scene shows her and her mother going back and forth. Her mother then goes to the bathroom in the next scene. Roxy receives a phone call from a friend, prompting Roxy to see her pal. The short film moves on to the next scene. This takes place in Emma's house, which is a friend of hers. They're in Emma's room, discussing Roxy's mother's treatment of her. The entire time they are chatting, this sequence is shot in two shots. Roxy receives a call from her mother, and her eyes begin to water. Emma's mot...

Short Film Research: ( Migrants/ Drama)

This short film was 8 minutes long and the plot was pretty easy to figure out basically there were polar bears being pushed out of their home lands due to global warming and exiled from brown bear territory being left to fend for themselves on the ocean. In the beginning of the short there was a climax point where the baby polar bear fell of the ice and into the water from the ice breaking and the mother jumps after the baby. This was a great way to start the film it immediately introduce the drama factor that a film should have lots of heart racing and anticipating moments. There was a conflict with the polar bears and the brown bears over food and the was another great way to help deliver a message. Although it is animated the film didn't use and real dialogue just animal noises such as grunts and snorts and well as instrumental music in the background.     It reminds me of how lonely many of us are. It can be interpreted as a political manifesto, ...

Introduction to the Music Video Project

So today I started my music video project I have officially decided on whether or not I wanted to work with anyone and who I would be working with. I had a hard time since I get nervous working in group especially when I don’t know anyone really. However I managed to find a group. I decided to work with three other girls. Rohanna, Nishayla, and Idline. I knew them since middle school and got lucky when I found out we all had the same class so I was able to successfully see to it that I got a comfortable group to efficiently get the work done.  I choose to actually work in a group rather than by myself because I know me doing it alone would be very overwhelming. I have been struggling lately and falling behind on a lot. So having someone around to keep me motivated and help give me ideas on how to participate daily and move to be productive in my work was an essential part in making sure I progress in this class. US History is a hassle with all the hand written work the teache...
