Genres We Would Like to Research

There are three genres we would like to do some research on before moving forward. Action, horror and drama. The reason for me choosing these is because we definitely have a feel of one of these types of genres being what category we set our short film to fall under. We know more about the other genres and saw these types as expanding my ind in the world of genres. We typically stick to romance and comedy kind of movies.

So, We made sure to do something out of our comfort zone and try to do something a little non traditional. We feel as though this is going to be worth it and that we may find something we truly like for the idea of my film this year. Hopefully these genres turn out to be the perfect kind for our film. We will use these to help me make a decision later on but this research will definitely be a good mind opener for future references. It should also make for good examples to go off of when its time to find inspiration that suits our chosen genre.

We still have a little information on filming from the past research I had done. However, now ill be going further in depth to ensure this years project turns out much better than last years. This will have more elements of of my genre and this research should help ensure we were using the right tools and techniques. I wasn't very big on Mis-en_scene last year as well so this year this research should also help us use more enthusiastic costumes, lighting and more. Doing more research on these genres will definitely help me gain a stronger knowledge based foundation for what we want.

We would be able to build a stronger plot and grasp the attention of the audience with the right skills and understanding of the preferred genres. Knowing more on these genres will also help me determine the style my script will be written in. This will also help me find and build a purpose for writing the film and scripting it the way that we will. This research helps me plan and get into place everything that we will need for the future task to come for this film. We just need a stronger knowledge base to make sure things run smoothly once the final decision is made.

Planning: Storyboard "Dear Mother"

A dysfunctional mother-daughter relationship is the subject of our short film. The first shot of the first scene is of the outside of a house, which sets the tone for Roxy and Ms. Jackie's home. The shot then moves on to the interior of the house. Roxy is shouted at by her mother about housework in the next scene, which is more focused on the performers' relationships. There is a close-up of food on the floor, which Roxy must clean up as part of her tasks. This scene shows her and her mother going back and forth. Her mother then goes to the bathroom in the next scene. Roxy receives a phone call from a friend, prompting Roxy to see her pal. The short film moves on to the next scene.This takes place in Emma's house, which is a friend of hers. They're in Emma's room, discussing Roxy's mother's treatment of her. Short Film Research: ( Migrants/ Drama)

This short film was 8 minutes long and the plot was pretty easy to figure out basically there were polar bears being pushed out of their home lands due to global warming and exiled from brown bear territory being left to fend for themselves on the ocean. In the beginning of the short there was a climax point where the baby polar bear fell of the ice and into the water from the ice breaking and the mother jumps after the baby. This was a great way to start the film it immediately introduce the drama factor that a film should have lots of heart racing and anticipating moments. There was a conflict with the polar bears and the brown bears over food and the was another great way to help deliver a message. Although it is animated the film didn't use and real dialogue just animal noises such as grunts and snorts and well as instrumental music in the background. Introduction to the Music Video Project

So today I started my music video project I have officially decided on whether or not I wanted to work with anyone and who I would be working with. I had a hard time since I get nervous working in group especially when I don’t know anyone really. However I managed to find a group. I decided to work with three other girls. Rohanna, Nishayla, and Idline. I knew them since middle school and got lucky when I found out we all had the same class so I was able to successfully see to it that I got a comfortable group to efficiently get the work done.
