Filming & editing: Just an Update

So for today we are discussing the details of everything going on so far for the film from my perspective. So as you know I am working with a group of girls and we created a pitch that basically is about two girl bestfriends and one of them dies from leukemia. This is a drama film made as a dystopian story. So we have just about everything we need as a group to move on to filming. However, we have really busy schedule's so we do have to do some date changes for filming which we have not yet started because were still prepping for everything.

We are all juniors therefore, we needed time to study for our SAT's. Of course we took that time to make sur we were able to get some studying in. everything has been as huge success so far. We do need to finish gathering the props we will be using and due to corona we will have my mother there as apart of our safety team. This means we do have to make accommodations for her work schedule. Everyone has mask and hand sanitizer for the times that we're are not filming and are handling other things behind the scenes.

We have not stared filming as of yet but we have been brainstorming ideas as seen in our storyboard. We also have not had to make any location changes as of yet seeing as the weather has been playing nice with us. But, I am working on get a reservation for indoor spacing; just in case we have some of these technical difficulties on our filming days unexpectedly. After realizing we made some mistakes in our storyboard we went back to fix things and adjust our scripts a little. It was a little overwhelming but as a group we were able to effectively breakdown the work so that everyone is doing their fair share of work.

I made some actor changes when typing up the storyboard and informed the girls on my team. I am still waiting on their okay to approve this change as team. I added a new character name Faith she will be playing the role of Kim's cousin. She is a minor part in this movie but she in key to Kim's survival in a way that she s completely clueless of. The next move for us is to work on our music choices and find out what permissions we need to finalize the things we want to do for our film. This is going to be a great film opening.

Planning: Storyboard "Dear Mother"

A dysfunctional mother-daughter relationship is the subject of our short film. The first shot of the first scene is of the outside of a house, which sets the tone for Roxy and Ms. Jackie's home. The shot then moves on to the interior of the house. Roxy is shouted at by her mother about housework in the next scene, which is more focused on the performers' relationships. There is a close-up of food on the floor, which Roxy must clean up as part of her tasks. This scene shows her and her mother going back and forth. Her mother then goes to the bathroom in the next scene. Roxy receives a phone call from a friend, prompting Roxy to see her pal. The short film moves on to the next scene. This takes place in Emma's house, which is a friend of hers. They're in Emma's room, discussing Roxy's mother's treatment of her. The entire time they are chatting, this sequence is shot in two shots. Roxy receives a call from her mother, and her eyes begin to water. Emma's mot...

Short Film Research: ( Migrants/ Drama)

This short film was 8 minutes long and the plot was pretty easy to figure out basically there were polar bears being pushed out of their home lands due to global warming and exiled from brown bear territory being left to fend for themselves on the ocean. In the beginning of the short there was a climax point where the baby polar bear fell of the ice and into the water from the ice breaking and the mother jumps after the baby. This was a great way to start the film it immediately introduce the drama factor that a film should have lots of heart racing and anticipating moments. There was a conflict with the polar bears and the brown bears over food and the was another great way to help deliver a message. Although it is animated the film didn't use and real dialogue just animal noises such as grunts and snorts and well as instrumental music in the background.     It reminds me of how lonely many of us are. It can be interpreted as a political manifesto, ...

Comparing 9, the short, and 9, the full-length movie

The Short: My first impressions of the 9 short film was a bit confusing and when things slowly began to make sense in the end we were left with a weird cliff hanger and although it didn't make much sense seeing the numbers stitched onto other ghost dolls backs before the screen goes out helps establish that there is more to the story and that the is an explanation to what we were seeing. We couldn't really tell what the plot was in the beginning of the short it was hard to put two and two together but after seeing the  ghost dolls it can an appeal of an post-apocalyptic event that happened with 9 being the only survivor of his kind in the all out war. In the character development you could see that 9 was alert and nervous yet curious to find out whats going on and what he can do to survive. The character built a sense of fight or flight mode during the chaos in the short. We saw that there were lots of special effects i'm ...
