Title Research: Juno

Titles shown in the opening sequence included cast members names (Ellen Page, Michael Cera, Jennifer Garner, Jason Bateman, Allison Janney, J.K. Simmons, Olivia Therlby), Casting Directors (Mindy Marin and Karin Lipson), Costume designer (Monique Prudhomme) Music credits (Mateo Messina) Song Credits (Kimya Dawson), Music Supervisors (Peter Afterman and Margaret Yen), Coproducers (Jim Miller, Kelli Konop and Brad Van Arragon) Film Editor (Dana E. Glauberman), Production Designer (Steve Saklad), Director of photography (Eric Steelberg), Executive producers (Joe Drake, Nathan Kahane, Daniel Dubiecki) Producers (Lianne Halfon, John Malkovich, Mason Novick, Russel Smith) Writing Credits (Diablo Cody), Directing credits (Jason Reitman). Other titles included the various film studios where the movie was filmed. The images prioritized in the opening sequence were the character's bright red jacket which stood out in comparison to the plain colored background. The character was also seen carrying around a jug of what seemed to be juice which was also prioritized in the opening sequence.

The images were made to be almost 2D giving off a very diary, storybook theme. The connotations carried by these images would be boring almost dull, with a hint of life because of the brightness of the red jacket. The characters skin was paled in comparison to the jacket making her seem like a very dull character but the bright red kind of signaled dramatics. The film establishes a feeling of the genre from the outset by the dreary colorization of the character and background besides the bright red jacket. The color scheme creates a feeling of drama within the film letting the audience know what kind of tone will be carried on throughout the film.

The strategies used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience would have to be the carefree attitude of the character conveyed by their walk in the opening sequence of the film. This attitude appeals to the teenage audience where this kind of behavior is pretty typical and often popularized. Technology has been used effectively within this film to convey the dramatic attitude of a teen. The camera angles convey the character as small within a big town. The transitions almost Imitate  drawings being erased leaving the audience to believe this is how the character portrays herself as a character with her own novel.

Short Film Research: ( Migrants/ Drama)

This short film was 8 minutes long and the plot was pretty easy to figure out basically there were polar bears being pushed out of their home lands due to global warming and exiled from brown bear territory being left to fend for themselves on the ocean. In the beginning of the short there was a climax point where the baby polar bear fell of the ice and into the water from the ice breaking and the mother jumps after the baby. This was a great way to start the film it immediately introduce the drama factor that a film should have lots of heart racing and anticipating moments. There was a conflict with the polar bears and the brown bears over food and the was another great way to help deliver a message. Although it is animated the film didn't use and real dialogue just animal noises such as grunts and snorts and well as instrumental music in the background.     It reminds me of how lonely many of us are. It can be interpreted as a political manifesto, ...

Introduction to the Music Video Project

So today I started my music video project I have officially decided on whether or not I wanted to work with anyone and who I would be working with. I had a hard time since I get nervous working in group especially when I don’t know anyone really. However I managed to find a group. I decided to work with three other girls. Rohanna, Nishayla, and Idline. I knew them since middle school and got lucky when I found out we all had the same class so I was able to successfully see to it that I got a comfortable group to efficiently get the work done.  I choose to actually work in a group rather than by myself because I know me doing it alone would be very overwhelming. I have been struggling lately and falling behind on a lot. So having someone around to keep me motivated and help give me ideas on how to participate daily and move to be productive in my work was an essential part in making sure I progress in this class. US History is a hassle with all the hand written work the teache...

Comparing 9, the short, and 9, the full-length movie

The Short: My first impressions of the 9 short film was a bit confusing and when things slowly began to make sense in the end we were left with a weird cliff hanger and although it didn't make much sense seeing the numbers stitched onto other ghost dolls backs before the screen goes out helps establish that there is more to the story and that the is an explanation to what we were seeing. We couldn't really tell what the plot was in the beginning of the short it was hard to put two and two together but after seeing the  ghost dolls it can an appeal of an post-apocalyptic event that happened with 9 being the only survivor of his kind in the all out war. In the character development you could see that 9 was alert and nervous yet curious to find out whats going on and what he can do to survive. The character built a sense of fight or flight mode during the chaos in the short. We saw that there were lots of special effects i'm ...
