The genre we will be using for our opening sequence will be drama. Originally, we could not figure out what genre our pitch goes under. We were going to make it a romance and have the two main actors have some type of love connection. Then we changed that idea and thought it should be a comedy in which a lot of jokes would be made and audience laughter would play throughout the opening. We then realized since our pitch has something to do with coming of age, emotional/relational development, and struggles it would make the most sense to put this in the drama category. Therefore with the time we spent into this research we found other things that we could think about for our film that we will make soon. We took this as the time to stop and address what an actual drama film looks like. After doing so we decided the next step would be to provide examples after assessing the things other directors and film writers put into creating a drama film. We knew that although this would be our first drama film we would still need to put as much effort and research into this as possible. This leaving us to find out more on our genre we were able to find more techniques and extra editing tools that other film makers used to express emotions and exaggerate the experiences with the characters throughout the film especially in the opening scenes.
This short film was 8 minutes long and the plot was pretty easy to figure out basically there were polar bears being pushed out of their home lands due to global warming and exiled from brown bear territory being left to fend for themselves on the ocean. In the beginning of the short there was a climax point where the baby polar bear fell of the ice and into the water from the ice breaking and the mother jumps after the baby. This was a great way to start the film it immediately introduce the drama factor that a film should have lots of heart racing and anticipating moments. There was a conflict with the polar bears and the brown bears over food and the was another great way to help deliver a message. Although it is animated the film didn't use and real dialogue just animal noises such as grunts and snorts and well as instrumental music in the background. It reminds me of how lonely many of us are. It can be interpreted as a political manifesto, ...
