Research Blog: Music Video Conventions

In this music video, we will be portraying a message about how suicide and other harmful things to yourself can be prevented. This stems from people getting bullied, being left out, or physical & emotional abuse. In this circumstance, we will be focusing on someone who is going through a rough patch in their life, and how it ultimately changes for the better. Hip hop music generally focuses on the teen bracket, and most people starting from ages of adolescence to their teen years experience suicidal thoughts and acts of self harm. The use of Mis En Scene plays an important role in these types of music videos, because it portrays the theme of the video, coinciding with its lyrics.

The lyrics display a strong message to the audience and urges a call to action. Personal lyrics are also a great thing to have for the attempts of making a change. It also represents the overall setting and context of the music video. Props and camera shots help add to the narrative of the music video and adds more of a meaning towards the overall message. Displayed in our music video will be showcasing how these impactful issues can be resolved.

Choosing this song is a great way to break away from the stereotype most adults believe about hip hop. Many people have a negative connotation towards hip hop. People believe it glorifies violence, sexualization, drug use and it can be ver egotistical. However, Logic broke several hip hop stereotypes with this song. His song has greatly impacted the youth of today. Short Film Research: ( Migrants/ Drama)

This short film was 8 minutes long and the plot was pretty easy to figure out basically there were polar bears being pushed out of their home lands due to global warming and exiled from brown bear territory being left to fend for themselves on the ocean. In the beginning of the short there was a climax point where the baby polar bear fell of the ice and into the water from the ice breaking and the mother jumps after the baby. This was a great way to start the film it immediately introduce the drama factor that a film should have lots of heart racing and anticipating moments. There was a conflict with the polar bears and the brown bears over food and the was another great way to help deliver a message. Although it is animated the film didn't use and real dialogue just animal noises such as grunts and snorts and well as instrumental music in the background.     It reminds me of how lonely many of us are. It can be interpreted as a political manifesto, ...

Introduction to the Music Video Project

So today I started my music video project I have officially decided on whether or not I wanted to work with anyone and who I would be working with. I had a hard time since I get nervous working in group especially when I don’t know anyone really. However I managed to find a group. I decided to work with three other girls. Rohanna, Nishayla, and Idline. I knew them since middle school and got lucky when I found out we all had the same class so I was able to successfully see to it that I got a comfortable group to efficiently get the work done.  I choose to actually work in a group rather than by myself because I know me doing it alone would be very overwhelming. I have been struggling lately and falling behind on a lot. So having someone around to keep me motivated and help give me ideas on how to participate daily and move to be productive in my work was an essential part in making sure I progress in this class. US History is a hassle with all the hand written work the teache...

Comparing 9, the short, and 9, the full-length movie

The Short: My first impressions of the 9 short film was a bit confusing and when things slowly began to make sense in the end we were left with a weird cliff hanger and although it didn't make much sense seeing the numbers stitched onto other ghost dolls backs before the screen goes out helps establish that there is more to the story and that the is an explanation to what we were seeing. We couldn't really tell what the plot was in the beginning of the short it was hard to put two and two together but after seeing the  ghost dolls it can an appeal of an post-apocalyptic event that happened with 9 being the only survivor of his kind in the all out war. In the character development you could see that 9 was alert and nervous yet curious to find out whats going on and what he can do to survive. The character built a sense of fight or flight mode during the chaos in the short. We saw that there were lots of special effects i'm ...
