Editing Blog: Corrections

Okay so today I have officially finished editing and honestly it was a lot easier than I thought it was. However, I did struggle with uploading my videos and pictures from my takes onto my editing software on my laptop. I thought I would be okay with using my Nikkon D3200 camera since this laptop has a SD card slot but the problem I ran into along the way was that my SD card didn't fit in the slot. Even though I thought it would; I didn't realize that the size would be a problem. That is a small factor I should consider next time so I don't have this problem. I started editing at 10:45 and finished at 2:13 the next day I only took this long ,because I was struggling to go through all my takes and figure out which ones I wanted to use.

Once I finally went through all 40 takes I was making small mistakes in splits and trims of the videos. I even accidentally replaced one take with a picture on accident. I actually left that mistake in there, because it kind of fit the video better for the time frame. During my editing is when I realized that I had another brand of clothing that was visible in the finishing commercial. This is when the idea to use two brands instead of one came to mind. So I took the opportunity the next day to adjust the film so that in the end it shows a picture of both brands in one that lets others know that this is a collaboration commercial.

Editing was fun. The reason being that I could use anything I wanted to make this commercial my own and unique in its own way. Of course it didn't turn out how I planned but , because I had help from some amazing friends and suggestions on what to do get the job done from help around the house. I was able to create a commercial that I was content with. High School has done a lot to let me know that not everything is going to go as planned but that doesn't change the fact that things still have to get done.

Learning to improvise is one of the best skills you could possibly pick up within these four years we spend here. Editing is frustrating at first but once you get the hang of it, its super fun and easy.  The best thing to do first is to find a software that works for you it can become your easiest tool when doing a film. I was able to stay very focused on my editing without procrastinating, because once I started I got determined to finish it. Come to find out it was actually something I enjoyed doing.

I was seeing that it is possible to manipulate things to create something bigger than what meets the human eye at first glance. I saw that I could make this a art project even with the obstacles I had in the way. Yes things were frustrating and annoying sometimes the things I edit would be replaced by the new videos I would add on accident. It would even delete the wrong item sometimes but patience is definitely sometime you have to use in situations like this one. Overall, editing was a stressful but very eventful adventure for me.

Planning: Storyboard "Dear Mother"

A dysfunctional mother-daughter relationship is the subject of our short film. The first shot of the first scene is of the outside of a house, which sets the tone for Roxy and Ms. Jackie's home. The shot then moves on to the interior of the house. Roxy is shouted at by her mother about housework in the next scene, which is more focused on the performers' relationships. There is a close-up of food on the floor, which Roxy must clean up as part of her tasks. This scene shows her and her mother going back and forth. Her mother then goes to the bathroom in the next scene. Roxy receives a phone call from a friend, prompting Roxy to see her pal. The short film moves on to the next scene. This takes place in Emma's house, which is a friend of hers. They're in Emma's room, discussing Roxy's mother's treatment of her. The entire time they are chatting, this sequence is shot in two shots. Roxy receives a call from her mother, and her eyes begin to water. Emma's mot...

Short Film Research: ( Migrants/ Drama)

This short film was 8 minutes long and the plot was pretty easy to figure out basically there were polar bears being pushed out of their home lands due to global warming and exiled from brown bear territory being left to fend for themselves on the ocean. In the beginning of the short there was a climax point where the baby polar bear fell of the ice and into the water from the ice breaking and the mother jumps after the baby. This was a great way to start the film it immediately introduce the drama factor that a film should have lots of heart racing and anticipating moments. There was a conflict with the polar bears and the brown bears over food and the was another great way to help deliver a message. Although it is animated the film didn't use and real dialogue just animal noises such as grunts and snorts and well as instrumental music in the background.     It reminds me of how lonely many of us are. It can be interpreted as a political manifesto, ...

Comparing 9, the short, and 9, the full-length movie

The Short: My first impressions of the 9 short film was a bit confusing and when things slowly began to make sense in the end we were left with a weird cliff hanger and although it didn't make much sense seeing the numbers stitched onto other ghost dolls backs before the screen goes out helps establish that there is more to the story and that the is an explanation to what we were seeing. We couldn't really tell what the plot was in the beginning of the short it was hard to put two and two together but after seeing the  ghost dolls it can an appeal of an post-apocalyptic event that happened with 9 being the only survivor of his kind in the all out war. In the character development you could see that 9 was alert and nervous yet curious to find out whats going on and what he can do to survive. The character built a sense of fight or flight mode during the chaos in the short. We saw that there were lots of special effects i'm ...
