If you couldn't tell by title today's blog is going to be me giving information from the research I gathered for my future Nike commercial. Since I am making a commercial on the brand Nike and Nike owns many other popular brands such as Jordan's and converse I had to research this to make sure they aren't two separate brands under different companies. Nike commercials typically involves physical activity such as playing sports and dancing maybe even exercising on a track or using stairs/ bleachers. Usually sweating happens or and effect is made on the characters to show this is what's happening to add to the effect and exaggeration. There are usually people working out wearing Nike branded gear from clothes to shoes and sweat bands basically anything from Jordan's to converse is apart of Nike company and can be worn as long as the logo is seen.
These commercials typically have a deeper meaning or something the company stands for such as the Black lives matter movement to exercising voting rights or maybe even the balance of sports and education. Its all presented in the form used to empower and motivate others. They typically use close up shots to get the logo and make it part of the main focus and show the symbol which is just a simple check with the slogan Just Do It! To get the attention of the audience they use actors and other popular public figures to show that this brand is worn and used by everyone regardless to what they do. The company uses different appeals in each commercial to get the attention of the audience that range from ethos to pathos and logos.
Ethos is an argument that appeals to the audience by emphasizing the speaker's credibility and authority. A new Infiniti ad featured Steph Curry, for instance. Although he's not known for his taste in cars, the product is supported by his prominence. Pathos is an appeal made to an audience's emotions in order to evoke feeling. An example would be the animal abuse commercials or world hunger commercials. The way those ae displayed is the way pathos is used to appeal to an audience. Another that's actually related to Nike would be the Black Lives Matter Movement. Logos is a rhetorical or persuasive appeal to the audience's logic and rationality. An example of logos used in a commercial would have to be in advertisement include the citation of statistics, facts, data, charts, and graphs
So overall, I've been working together for my upcoming Nike ad. Usually, these ads have a broader meaning or something the corporation stands for, such as the Black Lives Matter Campaign to exercise voting rights or maybe even the balance between sports and education. It's all done in the context of inspiring and encouraging everyone. Ethos is an assertion that appeals to the listener by stressing the legitimacy and authority of the speaker. Pathos is an appeal to the desires of an audience to elicit feelings. A rhetorical or convincing reference to the reasoning and reason of the viewer is Logos. These are all-important factors I found out from my research for this project.
