CCR Interview_ Ciaya Cook

This interview basically details all of my personal thoughts and ideas on the final task project. I examine it from a creative artist perspective as well as a critical and reflective bifocal area.  I use many of my own opinions and speak on the skills I've earned and have picked up throughout the process. More details and description is given in the video interview above.

Final Task: What it Represents?

The editing process is officially done. We are coming to the end of our journey in this project. We had good times and rough times but we made it through. I never really understood what made us such a great team but I think it makes sense now. We each had our own gifts to bring to the table. We respected one another no matter what.       We never really had any disagreements we took all ideas into consideration. Understanding the difference between constructive criticism and being rude was something we all knew the difference between. An overall just coming together as one to motivate one another to continue working and getting through everything together. Putting together the storyboard was definitely our biggest challenge but with me being able to create a storyline the girls were able to draw everything in as long as I had a story to match everything else. We made location changes, design changes, meeting times also changes and so much m...

Production Blog: Editing Day 2

So there was a hold up in the editing process for us. Seeing as when Idline gave Rohanna the SD card she took it out of its original casing. Not knowing it would be need to be inserted properly into the laptop for Rohanna to edit with ease we paid it no mind. Until Rohanna mentions the SD card would not fit properly. Fortunately though I was able to get most of the takes and email them to Nishayla. So she was able to give it to Rohanna and help her do it that way instead of worry about the SD card. I was super nervous and worried we wouldn’t finish on time. Continuing it got done and everything was okay. I didn’t realize how much I could stress until it came time to edit everything. After fixing that we worked on cutting times and deciding what’s scene were most important to have.  So while this was going on we wanted to add filters and other transition designs to provide better lighting and detailing in the film. The clips we had were really long so we hand to cut them into ...

Production Blog: Editing Day 1

Today was the first day of editing. This is when we decided that Rohanna was going to be our editor. We made sure to give her all the tools needed and provide her with any assistance she may have needed. Due to her working we knew she wouldn’t be able to finish the entire thing in a day. That was the original plan. We all got to take time and make sure that all our other parts of the project were done correctly. Now we are just awaiting our finally product. We got the permissions we needed for the music and songs. Sounds we used will be voiced over if needed. We prepared all the editing features we wanted to use that didn’t already come with the editing software. Yes we choose to use it and it works wonderfully but sometimes a little extra was needed for a third party to achieve the goal we wanted. It was a long process but there were questions and answers to everything that was asked. No one was left out and no one was left behind. We all managed to get through and keep up with e...

Production Blog: Filming Day 2

So today is our last day of filming. Today we had planned on using the basketball court. However, again today the park had way to many people there. So for social distancing purposes we made to sure to keep the social distancing rule in effect in our own bubble of people. We decided to just use the field and the outskirts of the basketball court to avoid human contact with others.  It was that last day of filming and the more we move into the filming process the more dramatic it was. So I had a part where I needed to drop to the floor crying and I did it. Consequently, I didn’t expect the ground to hurt as much as it did. So when the take was over I needed to make sure that I hadn’t bruised my knees. When I got up my mother had the first aid kit ready just in case but I was okay it was just a graze from a rock no bleeding and harm done. The camera did die on us but we continued to film using our back up device. As we came to our closing remarks we decided to blog a little and...

Production Blog: Filming Day 1

So on the first filming day we were able to get most of our takes done. Everything eventually came to and end and we all needed to come back the next day and regenerate ourselves. Seeing as we were all tired and hungry from being in the hot sun. Thinking is what happened most of the time. We were focused on how to do certain things since we had to use Idline’s camera. It was a struggle to figure out how to use the cameras video feature. It wasn’t something we were used to. I was acting that day so basically we assessed everything at the park at scoped the area to see how and where we would film each part. The park was under a highway so it was really noisy. Meaning our best option would have been to do voiceovers but that is what we will leave forthe editing.  Things went smoothly but the park seemed to be gradually increasing its number of visitors as we continued on. It was very funny to have to act as a character in the film. Trying to maintain charater is hard. Especially when ...

Production Blog: Finalizing Dates to Film

On march 29th my team and I discussed the dates. They initially tried Sunday but I was informed way to late. I couldn't make the last minute film. So they were going to film without me which was fine but it wasn't possible seeing and my understudy wasn't able to make it anymore. This was leaving them with no choice but to cancel and reschedule once more.       We tried to film later to see how that would go. I was given an much earlier notice.  I was able to make the date and so was everyone else. Allowing us to continue with our regularly scheduled program. This allowed me time to schedule and order a lyft ride to get to the park.       This also gave me the opportunity to figure out my situations for transportation getting back home from the park. We all managed to come to an agreement and we began the next step of checking everything off our list. It was to ensure that we have all of the possible needed props wit...
